Observing January's Full Moon ...
As I look for ways to bring more uplifting practices into my life, it is important for me to slow down and enjoy the daily miracles. Every sunrise and raindrop, every friendly smile or sound of laughter makes us feel more alive, and that is a good reason to be thankful to the one who created all these things. Stopping in the moment to appreciate the little blessings sprinkled throughout our lives brings a sense of inner peace and calm. One thing I have been doing to bring more calm into my life is tuning in to the rhythms of the moon phases during the month. I discovered that there’s a lot I did not know or understand about the moon, or any other source of light and energy in the sky. Currently, I am on a quest to learn more about the moon and how it impacts our lives here on planet earth, then I can appreciate this light in the night time sky for more than just it’s beauty.

The moon obviously has hidden powers if it can influence the ocean tides, menstrual cycles, and our emotions. We just had a full moon a few days ago on January 17, full moons are known for causing higher tides and emotional disturbances, but I want to dig deeper. This full moon has brought out a more sensitive side to my personality. During this full moon I noticed heightened emotions plus an increased desire for comfort, nurturing, and feeling safe, secure and peaceful in our surroundings. So, I pulled out extra blankets, served some comfort foods, lit some candles and snuggled in front of a romantic movie. That was nice!
Observing the moon phases is one way I’m learning to tune in to the ebb and flow of the natural rhythms of life, and that will serve to help reduce my stress and anxiety. Putting rituals into place within our day, week, and month helps us slow down enough to observe and appreciate the simple joys of life. Deeper gratitude and greater harmony will flow through my life as I make a conscious effort to observe and be thankful for the everyday blessings.
